Ego POWER+ 56V 650 CFM

Greenworks Pro 80V 500 CFM

For a very long time, the Greenworks Pro leaf blower has been our top recommended blower – until today. The Greenworks Pro 80 is still an excellent blower, but with the introduction of the Ego POWER+ leaf blower with a beefy 5.0 Ah battery, it is not only more powerful than the Greenworks Pro, but it has an amazing 200-minute max operating time.

In this article, we’ll compare the Greenworks Pro leaf blower with the Ego POWER+ blower head to head and we think you’ll see why the Ego POWER+ is our new top pick.

The Greenworks Pro has been our top pick for almost 3 years. The Ego POWER+ challenges that top position with some extra features. The two have many similarities, but the Ego POWER+ 650 CFM shows more options, more power, and longer battery life.

One way they are similar is their top variable air speed setting of 500 CFM. Both can maintain a steady 500 CFM. The Ego POWER+ has a variable speed control with a top speed of 500 CFM. The Greenworks Pro has a 3-speed switch with a top speed of 500 CFM.

A major difference, and one reason we pick the Ego Power +, is the Ego’s 650 CFM power boost switch for short blasts of maximum power. The Greenworks Pro unit does not have a feature like this and can only maintain a high speed of 500 CFM.

The other main difference is the total run-time. This can vary quite a bit based on the size of the battery and the speed you choose to work. The slower the speed, the longer the battery life. The Ego Power+ wins in this measure almost exclusively by having a larger stock battery of 5Ah. The Greenworks Pro comes with a much smaller 2Ah battery. The Greenworks Pro can operate with a larger battery, and they do offer a similar 5Ah battery.

The Ego POWER+ has a top run-time of 200 minutes at it’s lowest power setting. The Greenworks Pro has a top speed of 70 minutes. This is not a fair comparison since this compares their two stock batteries, 5Ah and 2Ah. But even if we change out the Greenworks Pro units 2Ah battery with a 5Ah battery, the calculated max run-time of 175 minutes at low power does not beat the Ego Power+ unit at 200 minutes of max run-time.

Conclusion

There’s an easy winner here in the Ego POWER+ with a greater range of speed choices, a more powerful max airspeed, and a longer battery life.

If you have other Greenworks Pro equipment, the Greenworks Pro is still a good choice. But if you have not invested in any Greenworks Pro tools, then we would recommend the Ego Power+.
